'It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea. He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.' --Isaiah 11:11-12
Looking back, it is not hard to see how God was already planting seeds within us in this type of work. In this blog article, a newspaper article documents this early introduction to this part of our world.
SERVE Nazareth hosted the November 2015 Walk the Jesus Trail fundraiser to raise funds for the projects that SERVE Nazareth does in Nazareth, Israel, as part of The Nazareth Trust. The St. Pantaleon Foundation started with this as our initial project with total funds raised for SERVE Nazareth being $6,507.00; 100% of this money was sent to The Nazareth Trust. We traveled to Israel and participated in the fund-raiser hike of over 65 kilometers from Nazareth to Capernaum; other hikers from Pennsylvania, Scotland, England, and Ireland also hiked with them along with a guide.

You can learn more about the Nazareth Hospital and its history by watching this video.
In July 2018, Dr. Smith traveled back to Nazareth seeking God's direction and to discover His will. After a year of effort and travel to the Israeli Consulate in Miami, he was granted an Israeli medical license in effect while at Nazareth Hospital. Besides working there at the hospital, he also worked one evening at a private clinic, and was also able to travel to Camp Ichay in the Golan region to tour the facility and decide upon future work there. We were able to donate $2,500 to the Nazareth Hospital that was to be used to help with funds needed for outreach medical services to provide medical care for those in Judea and Samaria. This trip was from July 4-20. The Nazareth Hospital was developing a program entitled Faith in Action which involves medical personnel putting their into action with work projects upon our last trip in 2018. Future trips were planned, but then the COVID-19 restrictions put into place resulted in those trips not being possible.
For 2023, we have a medical mission trip planned for late April 2023 to the Judea and Samaria regions of Israel. Home visits and clinic visits will be conducted with help of a local ministry there to those who are uninsured and in need of medical care. A local minister there will be going with Dr. Smith and arranging efficient use of our time while there so we will have very full days of work while there. There are many health needs in the Judea and Samaria regions among the residents. We are seeking donations of diabetic supplies, diapers, basic supplies for medical care, and funds to provide local ministries there to use for helping who cannot afford the high cost of items needed for their health. More information will be forthcoming.
Nazareth Evangelical College and Association of Baptist Churches in Israel
We have provided periodic donations to these organizations in support of their work in Israel.
The mission of Nazareth Evangelical College is to train leaders, men and women, to follow Christ faithfully and to be equipped and qualified for serving the church in the Holy Land enabling her to have a powerful influence on society according to God’s purposes.
The Association of Baptist Churches in Israel (ABC) is the home mission and umbrella for Baptist Churches in Israel. With 18 member churches, it is the largest network of evangelical churches in the country.
Camp Ichay &
Camp Gaza
After the visit to Camp Ichay in July 2018, that particular camp in the Golan was closed about a month later. This visit provided the guidance to David that he needed to know that he should be working in that type of setting and serving those who cannot get medical care otherwise. A new camp including a field clinic was built in Gaza and we planned on working at this site in 2020, but was delayed due to the travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. By the time Israel travel was possible in 2022, the Gaza clinic had closed due to the political climate in the area.
